Intaglio. Flat front and back with straight sides, set in a modern mount. Minerva stands with her head in profile to the right and her torso and legs frontal. She is dressed in a crested helmet and peplos. Her left arm is outstretched and there is a sacrificial dish (patera) in her left hand. Her right hand reaches down to rest on the shield sitting upright at her feet; behind the shield is a spear adorned with a bow and ribbon. There is a thin crack along the vertical axis of the gem.
