Each earring is made up of three oval-shaped, faceted sapphires (total weight approximately 1.5 carats) and four diamonds (totalc weight approximately 1 carat).

Provenance

According to the donor, the sapphires and diamonds were once part of a large suite of jewelry owned by Anna Dodge of Michigan. After her death in 1970, the suite was broken up and the stones recycled into numerous ornaments. The earrings were purchased from a New York dealer in 1980; Gift to MFA (Accession date: June 25, 2008)
