DescriptionKnitted. Pinkish mauve with white toes and heels. According to an inscription on the envelope containing them, found among the effects of Oliver Wendell Holmes, the Jurist, these stockings were bought in England by his "grandfather Jackson" (the lawyer Charles Jackson, his maternal grandfather). Jackson visited England in 1823, a date which corresponds reasonably with the style of the stockings. Good condition.
