Panel, large wall panel of silk compound satin; ground, originally blue, now light neutral yellow; made of three widths of material (only one is complete) including be-ribboned poodles dancing on scrolls; vulcan at forge, sea horses and fountains, swags, trophies of war, caduceus, etc.; border sewed on all four sides of rinceau with serpents (top and bottom) and with heads of lions smoking pipes and caryatids on sides; in each corner, a lion’s head; two horizontal seams near top of center; bluish satin in parts; tender, badly faded, worn, stained, and a number of tears; nail holes in edges.
