The ground is of red satin. The design of a lion regardant, seated on a branch of pendant flowers and alternating with a flower device over which curves a dove, is woven with light brownish cotton, sparsely wound with tarnished metal. This piece is of an Italian or Spanish brocade of the 14th century. The verdigris on the metal thread shows it to be made of copper.
