The ground is of fine pinkish red silk. The design of rows of symmetrical, conventional bunches of flowers, leaves and seed vessels, is woven with dark blue cotton. This piece when given was in the form of a chalice cover and was stiffened with leaves from an old book in Latin with German type of Paulus de Cestro, who died in Padua about 1441.
