DescriptionMonochrome orange pitcher with wide, strap handle, undulating neck, and flared rim. The surface is burnished vertically on the upper half and horizonally on the lower half, the burnishing lines creating a linear design on the clay surface. Three flanges of clay are attached to the side and rear of the body of the jar, lending the vessel a bird-like form.
ProvenanceCollection of F.H. Norton, Massachusetts, by 1971; to MFA, November 1971, gift of F. H. Norton and the Dept. of Metallurgy and Materials Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
