Obverse: Profile bust of Pius IX looking to proper right; inscribed at edge “PIVS·IX·PONTIFEX·MAXIMVS·ANNO·I” and under bust “GIVS·CERBARA·F·”.
Reverse: Triangle shape with rays of light above Justice who is flanked by a woman at each side as well as a lion and camel at proper right and a woman holding a branch at proper right; inscribed at edge “SACROS·SEDES·LATER·POSSESS·” and in exergue “VI·IDVS·NOV·/MDCCCXXXXVI·/·GC·”.
Obverse: Inscribed at edge "PIVS·IX·PONTIFEX·MAXIMVS·ANNO·I" and under bust "GIVS·CERBARA·F·".
Reverse: Inscribed at edge "SACROS·SEDES·LATER·POSSESS·" and in exergue "VI·IDVS·NOV·/MDCCCXXXXVI·/·GC·".
