Obverse: Profile bust of Pius IX looking to proper left; inscribed in band at edge "PIVS·IX·PONTIFEX·MAXIMVS·-[rosette]-".
Reverse: Church interior in state of ruin; inscribed below "GIROMETTI FEC." and in exergue "BASILIC·S·PAVLI EX INCENDIO/·XV·IVL·MDCCCXXIII".
