Once part of an elaborately decorated horse harness, this is one of a group of plaques showing a bounding lion in raised relief. All were originally gilded.

Provenance

From Meroe (Beg. North), Pyramid 16. 1921: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Sudan.
