DescriptionPlate decorated with an allegory of Earth, in which the ancient earth goddess Berecynthia, crowned and holding a blue globe, rides in a lion-drawn chariot. She is accompanied by Flora, Ceres, and Bacchus, surrounded by putti carrying out various agricultural tasks. Possbily based on a 1695 print by Etienne Baudet after the painting by Francesco Albani (1578-1660) in the Galleria Sabauda, Turin. Blue scrollwork decorates the rim.
