DescriptionRectangular envelope style pocketbook. Linen plainweave completely embroidered with polychrome silk and gold and silver metallic threads. Front motif: pastoral scene of field with animals, trees, butterflies, birds, house in the distance on a hill; Flap: trees, bird, butterfly; Back: manor house with trees, fountain, fence, birds.

Ground of silver metallic threads, laid and couched. Design embroidered in satin stitch, overcast stitch. Silver metallic galloon binding. Small metal loop on front, originally part of closure. Salmon silk lining. Foundation of canvas over cardboard. Condition: worn and soiled.
