Rectangular double pocketbook. Blue changeable silk taffeta: warp blue, weft pale pink. Embroidered in chain stitch with silk in greens, pinks, and brown. Design: scrolling floral border inscribed QUIL SOIT LE DEPOSITAIRE/ DES SENTIMENTS J’UN COEUR QUI SAIR AIMER/ IL NE NEST POINT QU’UN AMI VEUILLATAIRE/ IL EN EST TANT QUILNE PEUT ESCPRIMER (obv.); flower center, scrolling floral broders (rev. and interior panels). Edging of green spiral and green and red loops on sides. Pink silk lining.

Translation of inscription: “may it be the guardian/ of the feelings of a heart who knows how to love/ it is not a thing which a friend would want to be silent about/ it is conveying more than words can say”
