Tall baluster shaped vase with low cup-shaped mouth. Inlaid decoration of birds nestled in bamboo trees and cranes. This vessel exhibits the characteristics of the pottery produced during the period in which the traditional maebyeong style, which had been influenced by the Cizhou vessels made during the Northern Song dynasty, took on the attributes of a uniquely Goryeo style of maebyeong. The refinement and elegance for which Goryeo art is famous are amply evident in this vase. The designs employed in Goryeo celadon pottery usually consisted of scenic motifs such as the ones used in this vessel, or decorative motifs in which specific patterns were distributed in a successive fashion.

중국 북송北宋의 영향이 반영된 매병으로부터 고려적인 기형으로 변화해가는 양상을 보여주는 매병으로, 완성도 높은 작품이나 수리된 구연은 다소 원형에서 벗어났다. 대나무에 앉아 있는 새, 그 주변의 다양한 자새의 학들을 적절하게 포치하여 서정적인 화면을 구성하였다. 고려 미술의 세련된 감각이 충분히 발휘되어 있다. 고려 청자에 상감된 무의는 이처럼 회화적인 성격의 것도 있다, 일정한 패턴들이 표면 가득히 연속적으로 배치되어 공예의장적인 성격이 지배적인 것도 있다. 굽을 두툼하고 깔끔하게 깎아 만들고 안바닥까지 시유하였으며, 굽 접지면의 유약을 닦아내고 내화토를 받쳐 구웠다.
