Intaglio. Rectangular with rounded corners. Flat on both sides with slight inward back facet. Head of a male youth in profile to the left. He has a sharp nose, pointy chin, and deeply cut lines for bottom of nose and lips. Long curls hang along forehead and back of the neck. He is wearing a fillet. Parallel curved lines on crown of head to indicate locks of hair.

Provenance

Tell Dafana (Daphnae). 1886: excavated by William Matthew Flinders Petrie for the Egypt Exploration Fund, assigned to the EEF by the Egyptian government; presented to the MFA at EEF fifth annual general meeting; sent over June 1, 1887.
