DescriptionThere are two dowel holes at the break in the wrist. The index finger was also restored or made in this fashion. The surfaces are slightly worn and stained.
The scroll or rotulus is tightly rolled and is naturalistically represented at its outer end. The fingernails are also precisely defined, and the hand seems to be male. This would suggest that it must have once formed part of a Graeco-Roman, late Republican or imperial togate statue.
