Intaglio. Flat on both sides with inward back bezel. Head of Hermes, facing left. Hair along brow and hairline indicated by short, diagonal and parallel hatch marks, and separated from hair on the crown by a fillet. Short hair on crown is indicated by vertical hatches. Caduceus visible on his right shoulder.

Provenance

Tell Dafana (Daphnae). 1886: excavated by William Matthew Flinders Petrie for the Egypt Exploration Fund, assigned to the EEF by the Egyptian government; presented to the MFA at EEF fifth annual general meeting; sent over June 1, 1887.
