The numbers are marked on the plates in pencil. The edition of 1812, according to Andersen, has 40 plates and title. This copy has only 39 plates and title. The plate wanting is "The Crucifizion," after Buffalmaco. [A 2nd. ed., 1823-38, has 44 plates and text, according to Andersen.]
