The fluted salts are octafoil in section with sides tapering to a flat rim surrounding the circular depression for the salt. The sides of the salts are formed of a single raised and crimped sheet. The tops are formed separately and soldered at the rim.

Markings

On inside of bowl, maker's mark PD three pellets above a cinquefoil below (Jackson, 1921, p. 129; rev. ed. 1989, p. 125) (struck twice); leopard's head crowned; lion passant; date letter D
