DescriptionColorway sample length. Gauze weave; warp: cotton, Z spun; weft: cotton, Z spun. Supplementary non-continuous patterning weft: cotton. Stylized flower motifs in single color bands of green, yellows, reds and blues on black gauze ground. The separate color repeats are separated originally woven from selvedge to selvedge, floating between the motifs. Later the floats were removed, probably by cutting, although they could have been removed by acid or fire. Condition: very good; a few small holes.
