DescriptionEmbroidered in cross, satin and tent stitches; central panel shows two rows of alphabet letters, three rows of plants, figures, trees and a house, and two rows of text: "Ann Anthony born April/ 16 1776 made this May 8 1786/"; and "Tho Mercy is his darling Grace/ In Which he Chiefly Takes Delight/ Yet Will he all the humane Race/ According to their Works requite/." Wide border shows flowering vine, with three birds at top, growing from an urn at center of bottom; on urn: "Anne/ Anthony/ Born April/ 16 1776/ Newport/ 1786." Silks faded; small hole patched and edge embroidered in lower right border; rectangular inset in upper right border.
