Man or woman’s skirt. Printed by the reserve process and called by the Javanese work “batik”. The ground of the main field is pale yellow. On this are scattered branches of flowers suggesting carnations in brown, red, and blue. Along one edge is a scalloped border, and on the other a straight one. On one end is a broad, dark brown panel with scalloped edges and a design of bunches of flowers and birds in yellow, green and blue. The design, expecially the bow knots on the bunches of flowers, shows plainly European influence.
