DescriptionFor Covered cup 65.1853b-c. The bucket-shaped cup has two ear-shaped handles and a domed cover surmounted by a flower knop. The saucer has deep sloping sides. The white ground is decorated with hexagons formed of turquoise and red oeil de perdrix linked by blue dots enclosing larger oeil de perdrix of gilt dots with burnished centers within circles of blue dots. A stylized flower painted with blue and red dots within gilt outlines is located in the center of the saucer. The reserves on the cup, cover, and saucer are painted with landscapes that include figures, buildings, and with one excception, a body of water. The flower knop is painted with landscapes that include figures, buildings, and with one exception, a body of water. The flower knop is painted naturalistically in yellow, carmine, and green. Gilt bands tooled with floral sprigs surround the reserves, the flower knop, and the stylized flower; simple gilt bands decorate the rims of the cup, cover, and saucer.
