DescriptionDark, almost opaque, orange-red carnelian. Scarab with a flat, oblong intaglio base; pierced lengthwise. Two warriors, nude except for helmet, fallen on their shield. The head and shoulder of a third is seen, upside-down, at right. At left, a Greek inscription in negative counterclockwise “of Apollodotos”. Deep, curved ground line. Double cable border. Back carved as a beetle with a hatched border around the thorax and three lines dividing the elytra. Winglets in relief shaped like a right angle. Plastic legs with spined front legs. Plinth with cable border.
