夏の部。雨の降る中、神田川の淡路町と外神田を渡す昌平橋を画面右下方に描く。中央右の湯島聖堂は元禄3年(1691)上野忍ヶ岡(しのびがおか)からこの地に移されたもので、孔子とその弟子を祀る。境内には昌平黌(しょうへいこう)という学問所があった。 -- 藤澤紫K
