The square back has stiles and rails with a double bead around the edge and a raised panel in the top rail carved with a half daisy in a semicircle. There are fouir vertical reeded bars with bases set on incised blocks, and a plain spindle turning at the top from which flare carved fans. The fan capitals form a series of pointed arches, and there are two half-fans, supported on corbels attached to the stiles. The seat is slightly bowed in front and is upholstered over the rails. The tapered front legs are reeded and have spade feet, while the square rear legs curve outward. Mate to 30.227.
The seat has been rebuilt with modern springs. There were no cross braces. The back is mahogany, made of two pieces, and the other rails are oak. The right rear post is made of two pieces of mahogany splied together.
