Marks MARKS: on the inside of the box, maker's mark IL over WA (probably Jackson, 1989 ed, p. 231); sovereign's head; leopard's head crowned; crown; 18; date letter O (1809/10). Repeated on the inside of the lid, maker's mark.
InscriptionsINSCRIPTION: inside the lid, engraved: "This Box is a token from R. F. Breed to / Nathl. P. Russell Esqr. on hearing the death / of a dear Brother. It will serve as a humble reflector / of kind acts being appreciated & of the esteem/ in which Mr. Russell is held by the given. / London / 28th Octor. 1916."
