DescriptionThe ovoid box swells at the waist and tapers sharply to an ovoid footring. The lower section is fluted and the recesses are painted with Bottger lustre within gold bands. The exterior and interior of the slightly domed cover are painted with chinoiserie scenes, as is the base, all in a palette of iron red, purple, green, brown, yellow, blue and black. The silver-gilt mounts have a waved thumbpiece.
