DescriptionPair of spoons in the colonial revival style, each having downturned, coffin handles and a scalloped notch along the center of the stem. Bowl is egg-shaped.
Marks Marked "BOLLES" within a rectangle, along with an incuse symbol of a winged insec, both on the back of each handle stem.
InscriptionsEach spoon engraved "B/M*B" in roman letters on handle tip; on back of handle tip is the script engraving "June 12 / 1915"
ProvenanceThe donor purchased the spoons from F. B. Hubley, Cambridge, Massachusetts, auctioneers, December 1, 1999, lot 116. The donor believes that the spoons came from the estate of Wilbur Joseph Bender (1903-?), former dean of Harvard College and later instructor at Phillips Andover Academy.
