Large vessel roughly in the form of an inverted egg. From a small foot, the form widens dramatically to broad shoulder; ascends slightly higher to opening set with wide, low, removable lid. speckled, pumpkin colored slip covers most of vessel exterior and lid; lower quarterof form near foot is unslipped. Narrow, concave horizontal banding completely covers vessel and is repeated on lid.

Marked on base with artist's seal bearing Japanese symbols for the city of Unzen.
