The U-shaped tongs are formed from a single piece of silver, with shaped oval grippers and flat arms that are pierced with semicircles in a geometric pattern and engraved with bright-cut medallions.

Engraved on top of tongs, EHL.

Markings

On inside of one arm, maker's mark T.LAW (Jackson, 1989, p. 441). Inside other arm, date letter q; sovereign's head; lion passant; maker's mark TL (Jackson, 1989, p. 441)
