Caucasus, late 17th or early 18th century. “Sunburst Carpet.” Wool warp, weft, pile; Gordes knot. Two motifs of equally monumental character alternate along central axis; the sunburst (rayed diamond) and an octagon framed by lancet leaves. Condition: seamed along entire vertical length; some border repairs.
