DescriptionMade in Shata. Ground: linen cloth, stained and worn at side edges. At top is fringe (.03 wide); near top is narrow cream-colored silk stripe. Design: Kufic inscription (.012 high) in red silk tapestry; complete at left side. Inscription: "..good fortune to the Servant of God, el Fadl, the Iman, el Muti' lillah, Commander of the Faithful, may God prolong his life. The wazir ordered (this) to be made in the royal tiraz in Shata by the hands of Fa'iz, freedman of the Commander of the Faithful, may God prolong his life. The year 50 and 300" (962 A.D.) See note.
