Ground: entirely cut away; cream linen sewed to top and bottom of piece. Warps: cream and blue linen, arranged in stripes. Design: tapestry band of pink, yellow, black and blue silk and cream linen; woven with long slits. Imitation Kufic inscription of red silk; tails of letters form a narrow border (.01 high) on yellow ground. Shafts of tall letters (.07 high) divide band into compartments containing guilloche with cream rabbits on black ovals. Above and below is border (.023 wide) with palmettes in cartouches. Stained at left. Fatimid period.
