Ground: grayish-blue linen cloth, mostly cut away. Design: 2 tapestry bands (.015 apart). At bottom is formal Kufic inscription (.04 high) of neutral linen; letters filled with red silk; decorated with yellow silk stems; on brown silk ground. At top is guilloche enclosing geometric figures woven of red, yellow and brown silk and neutral linen. Stained full of holes. Inscription: “A.L.M.” (standing for “God, the Gracious, the Glorious”); repeated and reversed. See note.
