DescriptionLinen warp; woolen and linen weft; ground is in pinkish red wool; design in green, red and yellow wool and white linen consists of branches that form lozenges, each enclosing a heart-shaped leaf; in the middle are two narrow bands with scrolled branches that divide the design and flank a female figure with arms stretched out holding a shawl (nereid ?); a fish, a human head, two crosses and a bird (?) surround the female figure; the border encloses small rectangular motifs. Design shows Byzantine influence. Importation 204.
