DescriptionWarp: pinkish red wool. Design: wool tapestry band. Lozenge-shaped floral medallions separated by cream borders. Above and below is a narrow red border; design is woven with red, green, blue and yellow wool. At the top on a blue ground is a band of simple Kufic characters (.015 high) of cream filled in with red. Worn at the edges. Inscription: "Did ye then think that we had created you in jest." Qur'an, chapter 23, verse 117. Found in Assiut (Upper Egypt)
