Ground: dark blue wool gauze (in cloth weave). Design: Between yellow wool borders is a confused tapestry geometric band in red, yellow, blue and green wool and undyed linen. Worn and mutilated. Inscriptions: (embroidered in yellow, red, green wool and undyed linen.) (a) two lines of Coptic (.007 high) badly damaged: “for joy that the..” (b) one line of Kufic (0.15 high); type of lettering suggests the Fayoum: “There is no god but Allah”. See note.
