DescriptionGround: bluish-green linen cloth, mostly cut away at top and bottom. Pieced vertically across center. Plain selvedge at right and left. Design: tapestry band. Irregular oval (.07 high) on red silk ground containing debased animal figure. On each side (connected by narrow cream linen guilloche) is a small oval containing a duck on red silk ground. Interstices of band filled with green silk scrolls on yellow silk ground. At top and bottom is line of stylized Kufic writing (.022 high) in cream linen on red silk ground; decorated with floral scrolls of yellow and green silk. Inscription: (woven backwards) undeciphered.
