DescriptionThe octagonal pear-shaped body is raised in two parts with a molded band applied to the seam. It rests on a plain foot formed from a scored and seamed length of sheet. The curved octagonal spout applied over a pierced section is cast in halves and seamed vertically and terminates in a stylized duck's head. The ebonized wooden handle is pinned onto seamed octagonal handle sockets. A five-knuckle hinge is applied to the upper handle socket and to the molding of the raised octagonal domed cover. The turned wooden mushroom-shaped finial is attached to the cover by a silver bolt and nut with a cast baluster top.
Marks Engraved on underside, maker's mark WA (Bennett, p. 178, no. 521)(repeated inside cover); date letter x; harp crowned.
InscriptionsARMORIALS: engraved onunderside, the arms and crest of Nesbitt.
