DescriptionCircular medallion, with six classical mythological figures on a pinkish-red ground, warp linen, weft wool and linen, central seated figure may be Zeus, figure on his left with wings on feet, may be Hermes, faded, stains, some holes. Subject identified as Judgment of Paris. See Notes on Collection. Fashion for wearing brightly colored tapestry woven costume ornaments: this Roundel – probably one of a pair of segmenta, pairs of round panels worn over the shoulders and on the front and back of the skirt of the tunic.
