It is difficult to tell from Andrew Robison's catalogue raisonné whether this is his sixth or seventh state. It is undoubtedly the seventh state, however, since it is part of a gift of plates of the Carceri, the others of which are from the Second Edition, Fourth Issue, through early printings of the Fifth Edition, c. 1775-1835.
