Know, following Rizzi, records two states of this print: a first state, without the number, and showing two small branches on the tree stump, in the Staatsgalerie, Stuttgart; and a second state, without the two branches, but with the number “23.” This impression is before the number, but after the two small branches have been burnished out, traces of which, however, remain.
