A cast open trencher salt with a shaped oval body. Scrolling forms the supports. The body is concave with a quatrefoil shaped, molded rim and silver-gilt well.

Markings

Maker's Mark: a crowned fleur-de-lis, two grains, JBC, a key (Dennis, 96). Warden's Mark: 1763-1764: a crowned Z (Dennis, 96). Charge Mark: for large work 1762-1768: a crowned A with a laurel branch (Dennis, 128), and for small work, 1762-1768: crossed laurel branches (Dennis, 14).
