Each salt is rectangular, with cut corners, on a spreading, stepped foot. The oval well for salt is raised and let into the molded rim, which is assembled from eight fabricated panels. A wire is applied to the bottom edge. The salts have been extensively repaired and patched in the area of the marks.

Scratched on underside of each, "I*S".

On underside of each, maker's mark MR (Grimwade 2060); leopard's head crow ned; lion passant; date letter I
