One of a pair of cast trencher salts. Of oblong octagonal shape with concave sides between the molded rim and base, with an oval depression for salt.

Markings

Maker's Mark: a crowned fleur-de-lis, two grains, JM, a guidon (Dennis, 244). Warden's Mark: 1730-1731: a crowned O (Dennis, 279). Charge Mark: 1727-1732: an A crowned on its side (Dennis, 209). Discharge Mark: for medium sized work, 1727-1732: a crowned Martlet (Dennis, 279).
