Soft-paste porcelain, pink and blue ground (rose marbré), polychrome enamel decoration, gilding, gilt metal mount. A lidded pear shaped jug with tapering neck and sparrow-beaked spout. A shallow oval basin with small, slightly-ribbed lobes in the center of each side and at each end, punctuating the gently-undulating top edge. Both pieces painted with panels of exotic birds in landscapes within gilt chequered bands on a rose marbré ground. The jug has a hinged contemporary mount with shell thumbpiece.

Marks: on base of each, (in blue) factory mark of interlaced Ls and date letter I (for 1761); on base of jug (impressed) dt.
