White silk rep. Fitted bodice, asymmetrically draped flounce. Sleeves: welt-bound pleated inset, pleated cuffs. Square neckline and cuffs finished with net gauze. 3-pleated draped waistband at front forms 3 chevrons and bow at back. Welt-bound pleated vertical band down skirt front; 2 bands of pleated ruffles down back. 16 covered buttons at front closure. Pleated stiffening ruffle bound with lace at hem; built-in bustle: tiers of pleated and starched linen. Worn by Helen Nichols (Mrs. Samuel) Cabot (1857 - 1913) at her wedding, 1878.
