Folk art- sandpapers and pastels. Three-master sailing to right; men in whaleboat harpooning whale in foreground. The ship is the Joseph Grinell, built in Fairhaven, Mass., 1858.

Inscription

On back of original frame: Ship "Joseph Grinell" (built in Fairhaven, Mass., 1858) Captain William W. Thomas. This picture was crayoned on board the ship by mate named Coleman.
