Manchu woman’s short coat for winter wear (magua) in slate blue with overall design of auspicious Buddhist and Taoist symbols in cut and uncut velvet; side opening with black satin button loop closure; light blue plain-weave silk lining.
This type of winter coat would have been worn with long wool pants.
